Paint on walls

Clean the walls: Dirt, dust, and grease can prevent paint from adhering properly. Wash the walls with mild soap and water or a dedicated cleaner. Allow the surface to dry thoroughly.

Repair if necessary: Examine the wall for cracks, holes, or dents. Use spackle or wall filler to patch any imperfections. Once dry, sand the repairs flush with the wall surface. For glossy areas, lightly sand to dull the finish, which helps the new paint adhere.

Prime the walls: Priming is essential, For new drywall, stained, or patched areas, or when making a dramatic color change, apply a Peralin Paints acrylic primer. This step ensures even color coverage and optimal PVA performance.

Choose the right materials for inside and outside walls: Quality materials make all the difference in the longevity and appearance of your paint job. Select the Proper Paint: Opt for exterior-grade, weather-resistant paint. Acrylic latex offers versatility and durability for most surfaces. Use a compatible exterior primer, especially if you’re painting over bare wood, patched areas, or drastic color changes. Invest in sturdy brushes, rollers with appropriate nap, and extension poles for high areas. For large expanses, consider renting a paint sprayer.

Pick Your Color: Test your chosen colors with sample pots on a small wall section. View them in various lighting conditions to ensure your satisfaction before committing to the full project.

Roll the Walls: Use a roller with the correct nap length for your wall texture—short nap for smooth walls, medium for lightly textured surfaces. Load the roller evenly, then apply paint in W-shaped patterns, overlapping slightly for even coverage. Work in manageable sections and keep a wet edge to avoid lap marks. Apply thin coats rather than one thick layer. This ensures faster drying, prevents drips or sagging, and allows true color depth to develop.

Second Coat: Once the first coat has dried fully (refer to the drying time indicated on your Peralin Paints PVA label, usually 2–4 hours), inspect for uniformity. Apply a second coat for best results. Some deep colors or new walls may require a third coat.
